The Mind From Within: Visceral Roots of Human Cognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The physiological activity of visceral organs, such as the heart, the lungs, and the gut, is surprisingly linked to many sophisticated mental operations, such as remembering the past, being aware of ourselves, making choices, and forging social bonds.

Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Data‐driven neuropsychological phenotypes in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
INTRODUCTION This study aimed to identify phenotypes of subtle variation in multidomain cognitive performance and examine their longitudinal associations with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) biomarkers and cognitive outcomes.

A Novel Combined Audiovisual-Semantic Digital Tool for Early-Stage Cognitive Decline Detection: Development and Validation Study

open access: yesJMIR Aging
BackgroundDementia poses a significant public health challenge. Early detection is crucial for timely intervention but remains difficult in community settings, as many existing cognitive screening tools are either insufficiently sensitive to subtle ...

Brain‐Computer Interface Training Fosters Perceptual Skills to Detect Errors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Accurate perception of visuomotor errors underpins motor precision and learning, yet conventional behavioral training fails to improve sensitivity to subtle errors. Real‐time EEG‐based brain‐computer interface feedback targeting the error positivity component enhances perceptual learning of small errors.

BIOMARKERS OF OBJECTIVE CRITERIA FOR SUBTLE COGNITIVE DECLINE IN PARKINSON’S DISEASE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Mild cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease (PD-MCI) is the continuum from normal cognitive function to dementia. Recent studies suggest that objectively defined subtle cognitive decline (Obj-SCD), which uses non-traditional “process ...

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,

Character-level linguistic biomarkers for precision assessment of cognitive decline: a symbolic recurrence approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience
Early-stage Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains difficult to assess using conventional linguistic or cognitive assessments, which often overlook subtle and individualized disruptions in speech.

Neuron‐Targeted Exosomal Delivery of siRNA Against RIPK3 Slows Neurodegenerative Progression in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Engineered exosomal siRNA delivery platform enables systemic, neuron‐targeted RNA transport across the blood–brain barrier. Surface functionalization with rabies virus glycoprotein‐derived peptide facilitates receptor‐mediated transcytosis, achieving efficient cytosolic delivery and robust gene silencing. Targeting RIPK3 suppresses necroptosis, reduces
