Laboratory Instrumented Sucker-Rod Pump

Proceedings of SPE Production and Operations Symposium, 2001
SummaryAlthough sucker-rod pumps are installed in nearly 90% of all oil wells and many gas wells (for liquid unloading) in the United States and have been widely used for decades, there are many issues regarding their hydraulic performance that are not well understood. This is caused by the difficulty of obtaining downhole pump-performance data.

Differential Sucker-Rod Pumps

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2005
Operation of various types of differential sucker-rod pumps under industrial conditions has been analyzed. Based on this analysis, technical measures to increase the efficiency of the pumps have been developed.

ONSITE ANALYSIS OF SUCKER ROD PUMPING WELLS

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1982
ABSTRACT Shell Oil Company has developed a van-mounted minicomputer system that determines surface and downhole rod pumping performance at the well site using the Sucker Rod Diagnostic Technique. The benefits achieved, the reliability of both the hardware and software, and the number of systems placed in operation have far exceeded ...

Sucker Rod Pump

2020
Sucker rod pump, rod pump, reciprocating pump or pump jack is different names of an oldest and most widely used artificial lift method for oil wells. There is a high percentage of oil wells in North America and other areas in the world that are vertical and produce less than 10 barrels of oil per day.

An Improved Model for Sucker Rod Pumping

Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1983
Abstract An improved model for predicting the behavior of sucker rod pumping installations is presented. This model incorporates the dynamics of the liquid columns as well as the sucker rod string through a system of partial differential equations.

System Analysis for Sucker-Rod Pumping

SPE Production Engineering, 1989
Summary Pumping free gas in an oil well can significantly decrease the efficiency of a sucker-rod-pumping installation. Pump placement depth and use of a downhole gas/liquid separator (gas anchor) were found to be significant variables in improving the overall efficiency.
