Sucker Rod Pumping Systems Design -Another Look

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1981
ABSTRACT This paper presents a computer generated three dimensional design profile of gear box torque, maximum rod stress, and peak beam load as a function of pumping speed and pumping depth. This approach can be used to quickly define the optimum operating limits of any beam pumping system.

On Leakage Issues of Sucker Rod Pumping Systems

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2019
The issues of leakage with respect to the clearance between the pump plunger outer diameter and the pump barrel inner diameter and other operation conditions have been revisited in this paper. Both Poiseuille flow rate due to the pressure difference and Couette flow rate due to the plunger motion have been considered.

A Tool To Eliminate Common Sucker Rod Pump Problems

Proceedings of Permian Basin Oil and Gas Recovery Conference, 1988
ABSTRACT This paper describes a tool which employs simple mechanical technology to solve common sucker rod problems of gas locking and sticking without undesirable impact and wear on the pumping equipment.

Sucker-Rod-Pumping Failures in the Permian Basin

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Abstract Sucker rod pumping is the most popular form of artificial lift in the Permian Basin, which is one of the largest petroleum production basins in the United States. This paper is part of the research results of the Artificial Lift Energy Optimization Consortium (ALEOC),a research project which is sponsored by 11 oil companies ...

Predicting the Behavior of Sucker-Rod Pumping Systems

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1963
Introduction Sucker-rod pumping systems are used in approximately 90 per cent of artificially lifted wells. In view of this wide application, it behooves the industry to have a fundamental understanding of the sucker-rod pumping process. Oddly enough, our understanding has been rather superficial.
