Filaments in observed and mock galaxy catalogues [PDF]
Context. The main feature of the spatial large-scale galaxy distribution is an intricate network of galaxy filaments. Although many attempts have been made to quantify this network, there is no unique and satisfactory recipe for that yet. Aims.

Several problems in determining the QCD phase boundary by relativistic heavy ion collisions
The goal of relativistic heavy-ion collisions is to determine the phase boundary of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase transitions. Critically sensitive observables are suggested to be higher-order cumulants of conserved charges.

Null hypothesis significant testing (NHST) is the dominant statistical approach in the geriatric and rehabilitation fields. However, NHST is routinely misunderstood or misused. In this case, the findings from clinical trials would be taken as evidence of no effect, when in fact, a clinically relevant question may have a "non-significant" p-value ...

Content Analysis of Quality Evaluation Worksheets in Scientific Journals of Art [PDF]
The worksheets used for evaluation of scientific journals are the most important evaluative tools for evaluating the quality of scientific articles. It seems that in addition to the specific features of research in this field and problems such as the ...

Variational characterization of the critical curve for pinning of random polymers [PDF]
In this paper we look at the pinning of a directed polymer by a one-dimensional linear interface carrying random charges. There are two phases, localized and delocalized, depending on the inverse temperature and on the disorder bias.

Compensating Faraday depolarization by magnetic helicity in the solar corona
A turbulent dynamo in spherical geometry with an outer corona is simulated to study the sign of magnetic helicity in the outer parts. In agreement with earlier studies, the sign in the outer corona is found to be opposite to that inside the dynamo.

A New Derivation of the CPT and Spin-Statistics Theorems in Non-Commutative Field Theories
We propose an alternative axiomatic description for non-commutative field theories (NCFT) based on some ideas by Soloviev to nonlocal quantum fields.

A new approach to spatial data interpolation using higher-order statistics [PDF]
Interpolation techniques for spatial data have been applied frequently in various fields of geosciences. Although most conventional interpolation methods assume that it is sufficient to use first- and second-order statistics to characterize random fields,
