Quantum optics of a Bose-Einstein condensate coupled to a quantized light field

open access: yes, 1999
We consider the interaction between a Bose-Einstein condensate and a single-mode quantized light field in the presence of a strong far off-resonant pump laser.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

On Charged Fields with Group Symmetry and Degeneracies of Verlinde's Matrix S [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We consider the complete normal field net with compact symmetry group constructed by Doplicher and Roberts starting from a net of local observables in >=2+1 spacetime dimensions and its set of localized (DHR) representations.

Vacuum statistics and stability in axionic landscapes

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate vacuum statistics and stability in random axionic landscapes. For this purpose we developed an algorithm for a quick evaluation of the tunneling action, which in most cases is accurate within 10%.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

The development and psychometric evaluation of specific problem lists reflecting psychosocial distress of patients before and after solid organ transplantation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionPsychosocial distress is common in patients before and after solid organ transplantation. Regular screening facilitates the early identification of distressed patients and the provision of appropriate professional care.

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

Best-Choice Edge Grafting for Efficient Structure Learning of Markov Random Fields

open access: yes, 2018
Incremental methods for structure learning of pairwise Markov random fields (MRFs), such as grafting, improve scalability by avoiding inference over the entire feature space in each optimization step. Instead, inference is performed over an incrementally

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...
