When Plain Language Deceives: Frequent but Generic Words and Misleading Sentence Simplicity in a Mobile Phone Advertisement—An Eye‐Tracking and Decision‐Task Study

open access: yesApplied Cognitive Psychology, Volume 40, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how plain and apparently simple language can mislead readers in online advertising. Using eye‐tracking and a forced‐choice task, we compared an original smartphone advertisement with a revised version. The revision replaced frequent and generic wording with more specific expressions and substituted a declarative verbal ...

Roles of Interleukin‐31 in Allergen‐Driven Cough: Linking Protease‐Activated Receptor‐2 Activation and Vagal Ganglion Sensitization in a Dermatophagoides farinae‐Induced Asthma Model

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
In a Dermatophagoides farinae‐induced asthma model, IL‐31 deficiency did not substantially alter airway inflammation or immune responses but prevented the allergen‐induced enhancement of PAR‐2 expression and responsiveness in vagal sensory neurons.

Ordered Chaos: Photoreceptor Mosaics in the Larval and Adult Turquoise Killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri)

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 9, September 2026.
The annual turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) cone photoreceptor mosaic is an ordered lattice but lacks regularity of cone subtypes in adulthood. The cone mosaic differs between life stages and has characteristics observed in other fishes adapted for life in turbid water.

Choroid Plexus Microstructural Alterations Link Glymphatic Dysfunction and White Matter Degeneration in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study investigates the role of choroid plexus (CP) microstructural alterations in Parkinson's disease (PD), using free‐water corrected diffusion tensor imaging (FW‐DTI). Elevated CP diffusion metrics were linked to glymphatic dysfunction, corpus callosum degeneration, and worsened motor and cognitive performance in PD patients.

Estimating Dispersal Kernels for Stream Periphyton Using Drifting Lake Algae

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Summary of methods and procedures organized by aim and specific objectives. Drifting lake algae used as a proxy for periphyton dispersal. ABSTRACT Dispersal patterns are a key component of many ecological and evolutionary processes, yet they remain understudied in microbial species due to technical challenges.

Novel PTFE/PI Nanofibrous Composite Membranes Enabling High‐Flux Desalination and Durable Anti‐Scaling in Membrane Distillation

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Schematic illustration comparing the MD performance of pure PTFE NFMs and PTFE/PI NFMs. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes are widely recognized for their low surface energy and strong resistance to salt accumulation in membrane distillation (MD) processes.
