Some nutritional properties of unrefined sugar and its promotion of the survival of new-born rats.

open access: yes, 1985
1. The claims that rats fed on diets with ‘brown sugar’ (unrefined muscovado) perform better in a number of ways than do rats fed on refined white sugar (sucrose) have been examined. 2.

Adaptable Covalent Organic Framework‐Hydrogel Microneedles for Glucose‐Responsive Isoliquiritigenin Delivery in Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a covalent organic framework‐loaded Traditional Chinese Medicine monomer nanodrug delivery system (ISL@bCOF) via boron‐oxygen bonds, a smart response to glucose for delivering AI‐driven isoliquiritigenin (ISL) targeting ZBP1. This dynamic release mechanism, combined with transdermal delivery technology via potent microneedles, can modulate ...

Fructose‐Based Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles for GLUT1–Mediated Delivery: Impact of Polymer Design on Uptake and In Vivo Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐chain nanoparticles have been proposed as drug delivery carriers, but adding a tail can significantly enhance their performance. This was demonstrated using a tadpole‐like structure comprising a head prepared from a UV‐crosslinked fructose‐based glycopolymer capable of targeting GLUT receptors, combined with a PEG‐based tail. Compared with other

Comparison of High Temperature Alkali and Acid Pretreatment for the Enzymatic Saccharification of Poppy Stalks

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
In this study, the effect of dilute alkali (NaOH) and dilute acid (H2SO4) concentrations on the enzymatic digestibility, and sugar recovery from poppy stalks at the pretreatment temperature of 120 °C, and pretreatment time of 30 min were investigated ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Nectar as food for birds: The physiological consequences of drinking dilute sugar solutions

open access: yes, 2003
Nectarivory has evolved many times in birds: although best known in hummingbirds, sunbirds and honeyeaters, it also occurs on an opportunistic basis in a varied assortment of birds. We present a phylogenetic analysis of the distribution of nectarivory in

Influence of Type and Concentration of Acids on Hydrolisis Starch of “Taro Tuber” Into Sugar Liquid

open access: yes, 2020
The objectives of this research are (1) to know the effect of acid type and concentration on the hydrolysis of Taro tuber starch into liquid sugar (2) to know the type and concentration of acid that can produce the best liquid sugar characteristic in the
