Factors affecting the loss of yield of sugar beet caused by beet yellows virus: I. Rate and date of infection; date of sowing and harvesting

open access: yes, 1946
Field experiments were carried out to measure the effect on the yield and composition of sugar beet of infection with beet yellows virus, and to determine how the effect varies with rate and date of infection and with date of sowing and harvesting of the

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Thiolated Polymers in 3D Bioprinting: Control of Gelation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thiolated polymers are established as programmable bioinks for 3D bioprinting, integrating versatile crosslinking chemistries with redox‐responsive control. This work demonstrates how molecular design and external triggers define gelation kinetics, printability windows, and structural fidelity, enabling stable, high‐resolution constructs and advancing ...

Hierarchical Structure and Fabrication of Functionally Graded Biointerfaces in the Mussel Byssus

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The byssus is a fibrous protein‐based holdfast consisting of mechanically distinct interfaces, which mussels use to anchor their soft living tissue to hard seashore surfaces. Here, multiscale methodologies were used to elucidate the compositional and structural features underlying these functionally graded interfaces and how they are fabricated through

Wpływ nawożenia międzyplonami ścierniskowymi i azotem na produkcyjność i jakość technologiczną buraka cukrowego

open access: yesAgronomy Science, 2004
A four-year-long field and laboratory study compared the effect of organic fertilization with stubble intercrops of field bean, phacelia and mustard and with mineral nitrogen, at doses 0, 60, 120 and 180 kg N ha-1, on yielding and some yield qualities of

Parallel Electrical Integration of Photo Bio Electrochemical Systems (photo‐BESs): Performance Gains and Load Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.

1999 OUTLOOK OF THE U.S. AND WORLD SUGAR MARKETS

open access: yes
This report evaluates the U.S. and world sugar markets for 1998-2008 by using the World Sugar Policy Simulation Model. This analysis is based on assumptions about general economic conditions, agricultural policies, population growth, weather conditions ...
