High frequency intergenomic recombination of suid herpesvirus 1 (SHV-1, Aujeszky's disease virus)

Archives of Virology, 1993
Examples are given of observations made with field isolates of suid herpesvirus 1 (SHV-1) which indicate that intergenomic recombination is a common phenomenon associated with the virus. This was further confirmed by experimental co-infection of a pig with 2 virus strains with different, stable and easily identifiable genomic markers, followed by ...

Molecular double-check strategy for the identification and characterization of Suid herpesvirus 1

Journal of Virological Methods, 2014
Large scale vaccination with glycoprotein E (gE)-deleted marker vaccines and the rapid and reliable differentiation of wild-type and marker vaccine strains are important aspects in eradication programs for Suid herpesvirus 1 [SuHV-1, syn. Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) or pseudorabies virus (PrV)].

Survival rate of Suid Herpesvirus (SuHV-1, Aujeszky's disease virus, ADV) in composted sewage sludge

Polish Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2012
Sewage sludge constitutes a source of valuable biogenic raw materials, but it is a carrier of many pathogenic microorganisms and viruses. Subjected to an effective sanitization by means of the process of composting, it is suitable to use in agriculture as fertilizers.

The genomic diversity and stability of field strains of suid herpesvirus 1 (Aujeszky's disease virus)

Veterinary Microbiology, 1991
The genomic diversity among isolates of suid herpesvirus 1 (SHV-1) collected in the same herd and among clones from the same isolate was studied by restriction fragment pattern (RFP) analysis using BamHI. Tentatively defining a field strain as a transmissible entity, it was concluded that strains of SHV-1 commonly comprise distinguishable genomic ...

Detection and molecular characterization of Suid herpesvirus type 1 in Austrian wild boar and hunting dogs

Veterinary Microbiology, 2012
Aujeszky's disease (AD), caused by Suid herpesvirus type 1 (SuHV-1), is an economically important disease in domestic swine. Thus, rigorous control programmes have been implemented and consecutively AD in domestic swine was successfully eradicated in many countries, including Austria.

Neural invasion of two virulent Suid Herpesvirus 1 strains in neonatal pigs with or without maternal immunity

Veterinary Microbiology, 1999
The neural invasion of two virulent Suid Herpesvirus 1 (SHV1) strains was examined in neonatal pigs with or without maternal immunity. One-week-old pigs with comparable levels of maternal immunity (SN-titer = 12-48) were intranasally inoculated with 10(7.0) TCID50 of either of the Ka or E21 strains. The invasion of the strains was examined in the nasal

Characterization of field isolates of suid herpesvirus 1 (Aujeszky's disease virus) as derivatives of attenuated vaccine strains

Archives of Virology, 1992
Field isolates of suid herpesvirus 1 (Aujeszky's disease virus) from Poland and Hungary were identified by restriction fragment pattern analysis as derivatives of attenuated vaccine strains. The Polish isolates were found to be related to the BUK-TK-900 strain (Suivac A) which is widely used as a live vaccine in Poland, and the Hungarian isolates were ...

Restriction fragment pattern (RFP) analysis of genomes from Danish isolates of suid herpesvirus 1 (Aujezsky's disease virus)

Archives of Virology, 1987
Purified DNA from 42 isolates of Suid herpesvirus 1 (SHV-1) collected during 1985 from clinical outbreaks of Aujezsky's disease on Danish farms was compared by restriction fragment pattern (RFP) analysis. The BamHI generated RFPs were found to be distinguishable, thus confirming RFP analysis as a potential epidemiological tool.

Introduction of foreign strains of Suid herpesvirus 1 (Aujeszky's disease virus) documented by restriction fragment pattern (RFP) analysis

Archives of Virology, 1988
Six isolates of Suid herpesvirus 1 (SHV-1) collected from clinical outbreaks of Aujeszky's disease (AD) in Jutland in January-February, 1985, were compared by restriction fragment pattern (RFP) analyses with older SHV-1 isolates from Jutland as well as with SHV-1 isolates from different parts of West Germany and Ireland. The RFP analysis indicated that

The coelomic fluid of the sea urchin Tripneustes depressus shows antiviral activity against Suid herpesvirus type 1 (SHV-1) and rabies virus (RV)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2014
Several studies have reported that molecules extracted from invertebrates have activity against different viruses, even against those that do not infect these organisms in their environment. One of the main mechanisms against pathogens in these organisms is the production of antimicrobial peptides.
