Characterization of Suid herpesvirus 1 field isolates from Argentina.

T helper 1‐type cytokine transcription in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of pseudorabies virus (Suid herpesvirus 1)‐primed swine indicates efficient immunization

open access: yesImmunology, 2000
SummaryThe induction of porcine cytokines, which are believed to be important for the regulation of T helper (Th)1‐ and Th2‐specific immune responses of pigs, was analysed after in vitro restimulation with a herpesvirus, Suid herpes 1 (pseudorabies virus [PRV]), in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC).

Integration of Planova filters in manufacturing processes of biologicals improve the virus safety effectively: A review of publicly available data

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, Volume 40, Issue 1, January/February 2024.
Abstract The capacity to remove viruses by Planova filters produced by Asahi Kasei, primarily by small virus‐retentive filters, were compiled from data in peer‐reviewed publications and, partly, publicly available data from presentations at conferences (Planova workshops).

Novel Alpha‐, Beta‐, and Gammaherpesviruses in Neotropical Carnivores of Brazil

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The knowledge regarding infectious agents affecting wildlife is crucial for species’ conservation. We hypothesized that herpesviruses are present in wild Neotropical carnivores. Herein, we used DNA polymerase and glycoprotein B broad‐spectrum PCRs to molecularly survey the presence of herpesviruses in spleen and/or lung samples of 53 wild Neotropical ...

Multidecadal High Mortality Disease Events in Australian Domestic Geese Associated with a Novel Alphaherpesvirus, Designated Anatid Alphaherpevirus 2

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Herpesviruses are ubiquitous viruses which infect a wide range of hosts. Novel herpesviruses are being increasingly detected in free‐ranging bird populations and there are growing concerns for cross‐species infection and spillover events. Herein, multiple sporadic outbreaks of mortality caused by a herpesvirus are described in domestic geese in ...

Abortion and Lethal Septicaemia in Sows Caused by a Non‐ST194 Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Outbreaks of zoonotic Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus (SEZ) have caused severe epidemics in the pig sector since the 1970s in Southeastern Asia, China, and more recently North America. Cases of high mortality caused by peracute septicaemia were all attributed to strains of a highly virulent clonal lineage belonging to the sequence type (ST) 194.

Infectivity and Potential Zoonotic Characteristics of Porcine Pseudorabies Virus in Human Cells

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is widely spread, characterized by high contagiousness, high viral load, and strong infectivity, and poses severe threats to the global pig farming industry. Apart from pigs, PRV can also infect several other mammals, including mice, cattle, cats, dogs, and wolves, with diverse clinical symptoms.

Contribution of single genes within the unique short region of Aujeszky's disease virus (suid herpesvirus type 1) to virulence, pathogenesis and immunogenicity

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1992
Pigs (3 and 10 weeks old) were infected intranasally with Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) mutants that functionally lacked one of the non-essential genes in the unique short region of the genome (except the gene encoding the 11K protein). Virus excretion in oropharyngeal fluid and disease symptoms were monitored.

[Interaction of the glycoprotein gB of Aujeszky's disease virus (Suid herpesvirus 1) with cellular heparan sulfates].

open access: yesVoprosy virusologii, 2005
The interaction of the glycoprotein gB of Aujesky's disease virus (ADV, Suid herpesvirus 1) with heparan sulfates of BHK-21 cells was studied. The study used the native glycoprotein gB purified from the virus envelope by affinity chromatography based on gB-specific monoclonal antibodies. The cellular binding of the glycoprotein gB was specific and dose-

Diagnóstico e genotipagem do vírus da pseudoraiva por nested-PCR e análise de restrição enzimática Diagnosis and genotyping of pseudorabies virus by nested-PCR and restriction enzyme analysis
