Thermally Codeposited Bimetallic Copper–Cobalt Oxide Electrode for Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
A bimetallic CuCo2O4/Ni catalyst is synthesized via facile thermal codeposition and employed for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia. The synergistic Cu–Co interaction delivers a remarkable NH3 yield rate of 2.14 mmol cm2 h−1 with 90% Faradaic efficiency at −0.37 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), alongside exceptional 103‐h ...

Drivers of insect herbivory resistance and tolerance to plant damage in the Brachypodium distachyon species complex

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Premise Insect herbivory is a major biotic factor shaping plant populations and driving the evolution of defensive traits. Polyploidy (whole‐genome duplication) often induces substantial phenotypic and genotypic changes that may affect species interactions, including herbivory.

Effects of Supramolecular Interactions on E/Z‐Isomerizations in Water and Their Importance for Biological Applications

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 4, April 2026.
Biomimetic supramolecular hosts in water affect outcomes and behavior of E/Z‐isomerizations. A deeper understanding of such effects can pave the way to understanding photochemical processes in more complex biological environments. The review displays examples of supramolecular hosts affecting the outcomes of E/Z‐isomerizations and subsequently ...

Unspecific Peroxygenases‐Catalyzed Oxidation of Pharmaceutical Compounds Considered Emerging Contaminants

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 8, April 2026.
PaDa‐I and JaWa, two evolved UPO variants, catalyze the oxidation of 9 out of 12 pharmaceutical emerging contaminants, with TTN up to 4500. The enzymes exhibit distinct substrate selectivity. Only PaDa‐I can catalyze the simultaneous oxidation of substrates in wastewater samples.

Anti‐Inflammatory Effects of Hermetia illucens Fermented With Riboflavin‐Producing Leuconostoc mesenteroides KCCM13067P in RAW 264.7 Cells and Colitis Mouse Model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Fermentation of Hermetia illucens with riboflavin‐producing Leuconostoc mesenteroides KCCM13067P enhanced vitamin B2 derivatives and bioactive metabolites, including amino acids and amines. The fermented product (HeHi_Lm) suppressed inflammatory responses in LPS‐stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages and alleviated DSS‐induced colitis in mice.
