Sulfonylurea Inadequacy [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2002
OBJECTIVE—To evaluate the efficacy of the addition of insulin when maximal sulfonylurea therapy is inadequate in individuals with type 2 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS—Glycemic control, hypoglycemia, and body weight were monitored over 6 years in 826 patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes in 8 of 23 U.K.

Glimepiride, a novel sulfonylurea, does not abolish myocardial protection afforded by either ischemic preconditioning or diazoxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Background: The sulfonylurea glibenclamide (Glib) abolishes the cardioprotective effect of ischemic preconditioning (IP), presumably by inhibiting mitochondrial KATP channel opening in myocytes. Glimepiride (Glim) is a new sulfonylurea reported to affect

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Turfgrass species response exposed to increasing rates of glyphosate application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
To investigate the response of nine turfgrass species exposed to increasing rates of glyphosate application, the dry matter production, visual leaf injury symptoms (e.g., chlorosis and necrosis) and the concentrations of shikimate and mineral nutrients ...

Clinical pharmacology and prescribing education: An updated medical school curriculum from the British Pharmacological Society

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Prescribing is a complex, essential skill that doctors must acquire to practice medicine safely and effectively. The British Pharmacological Society has historically provided a core curriculum to guide clinical pharmacology and prescribing education in UK medical schools.

Cryo-EM structure of the ATP-sensitive potassium channel illuminates mechanisms of assembly and gating

open access: yeseLife, 2017
KATP channels are metabolic sensors that couple cell energetics to membrane excitability. In pancreatic β-cells, channels formed by SUR1 and Kir6.2 regulate insulin secretion and are the targets of antidiabetic sulfonylureas.

Emulating Six Cardiovascular Outcome Trials of Antidiabetic Drugs in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes: Analyses Based on Real‐World Databases from Korea and Taiwan

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
With the increasing volume of clinical evidence derived from large‐scale Asian real‐world data (RWD) and the growing interest in its use in regulatory decision‐making, it is important to conduct benchmarking exercises that evaluate whether studies using Asian RWD can generate similar conclusions as randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Resistência de plantas daninhas aos herbicidas inibidores da ALS na cultura da soja (Glycine max) Weed resistance to ALS - inhibiting herbicides in soybean (Glycine max) crop

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2000
O uso
