Safety and Efficacy of Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonists Use in Elderly People With Obesity—A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This meta‐analysis evaluates the safety and efficacy of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) for the treatment of older adults with obesity compared to younger individuals. Methods A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines (PROSPERO CRD420251074381).

Nicosulfuron Degradation by an Ascomycete Fungus Isolated From Submerged Alnus Leaf Litter

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Nicosulfuron is a selective herbicide belonging to the sulfonylurea family, commonly applied on maize crops. Its worldwide use results in widespread presence as a contaminant in surface streams and ground-waters. In this study, we isolated, for the first

Large language models unlock large text corpora in the search for data on medicinal plants and fungi

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Millions of people worldwide depend on plants and fungi for their healthcare needs, yet our understanding of which species are used medicinally—and how—remains fragmented and incomplete. As part of Kew's Plants for Health service, we developed a pipeline to mine large text corpora for information on natural products, initially focusing on the medicinal

A Trp574–Leu substitution confers resistance to three classes of acetolactate synthase inhibitors in Australian brome grass (Bromus diandrus)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Target‐site based imidazolinone resistance in brome grass was found to be conferred by a mutation at position 574 in the ALS gene and to severely impact the efficacy of the herbicide Intervix®, a co‐formulation of imazamox and imazapyr. Abstract BACKGROUND Brome grass (Bromus diandrus) is a prevalent weed in southern Australian cropping regions which ...

Pro‐197 mutations confer resistance to thiencarbazone but not to foramsulfuron in ALS‐resistant Poa annua populations

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Foramsulfuron remains effective on Pro‐197 Poa annua, but co‐formulation with thiencarbazone reduces efficacy due to limited activity and antagonism. Therefore, foramsulfuron + thiencarbazone should be used in fields without ALS‐resistant weeds to ensure effective in‐crop control.

From knowledge to action: the importance of characterizing herbicide resistance mechanisms for implementing management strategies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This review bridges the gap between understanding resistance mechanisms and applying them in weed management, highlighting how mechanistic insights reveal vulnerabilities that can guide more effective control strategies. Abstract Herbicide resistance remains one of the most intensively studied areas in weed science because of its direct consequences ...

Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitor Use and Risk of Pemphigus Vulgaris and Foliaceus: A Retrospective Cohort Study Using Databases of the Korea National Health Insurance Claims and the National Health Screening Examination

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although population‐based studies have reported an increased risk of bullous pemphigoid and pemphigus associated with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 (DPP‐4) inhibitors, there is limited, well‐designed epidemiological evidence for pemphigus vulgaris (PV), which has only been supported by case reports thus far.
