Structure determination and comparison of BM567, a sulfonylurea, with terbogrel, two compounds with dual action, thromboxane receptor antagonism and thromboxane synthase inhibition

open access: yes, 2001
BM567, a sulfonylurea compound - whose crystal structure is here discussed - and terbogrel, are both thromboxane receptor antagonists and thromboxane synthase inhibitors.

Insulin or sulfonylurea treatments of the diabetics differentially affect erythrocyte membrane and serum enzymes and extent of protein glycosylation

open access: yes, 2001
Erythrocyte membrane protein glycosylation increase by 3.4 fold in diabetes. Insulin or sulfonylurea treatment did not reduce the extent of glycosylation. The serum protein glycosylation was comparable in all the groups including control.

Cancer risk associated with use of metformin and sulfonylurea in type 2 diabetes : a meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVE: Oral antidiabetic drugs (including metformin and sulfonylurea) may play a role in the relationship between type 2 diabetes and cancer. To quantify the association between metformin and sulfonylurea and the risk of cancer, we performed a meta-

Synthesis and activity on rat aorta rings and rat pancreatic beta-cells of ring-opened analogues of benzopyran-type potassium channel activators.

open access: yes, 2008
Ring-opened analogues of dihydrobenzopyran potassium channel openers (PCOs) were prepared and evaluated as putative PCOs on rat aorta rings (myorelaxant effect) and rat pancreatic beta-cells (inhibition of insulin secretion).
