A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

The oxidation of sulfur by microorganisms [PDF]
Two groups of phenomena are to be considered in the study of the sulfur cycle: (1) the reduction phenomena and (2) the oxidation phenomena. The first result in the production of hydrogen sulfide and the second in the oxidation of H2S to S and of the latter to H2SO4. Both groups of phenomena result from activities of microorganisms.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Authors suggest removing hydrogen sulfide from the hot industrial gas at temperatures 200-300 °C and its subsequent interaction with Fe2O3. For this purpose the following sorbents have been proposed: a mixture of iron oxide and fly ash; iron oxide and ...

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the
