CALB Immobilized onto Magnetic Nanoparticles for Efficient Kinetic Resolution of Racemic Secondary Alcohols: Long-Term Stability and Reusability [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
In this study, an immobilization strategy for magnetic cross-linking enzyme aggregates of lipase B from Candida antarctica (CALB) was developed and investigated. Magnetic particles were prepared by conventional co-precipitation.

Deoxygenative Borylation of Secondary and Tertiary Alcohols [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie - International Edition, 2019
AbstractTwo different approaches for the deoxygenative radical borylation of secondary and tertiary alcohols are presented. These transformations either proceed through a metal‐free silyl‐radical‐mediated pathway or utilize visible‐light photoredox catalysis. Readily available xanthates or methyl oxalates are used as radical precursors.

Catalytic Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (CAD) of Secondary Benzylic Alcohols into Value-Added Ketones Using Pd(II)–NHC Complexes

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
For the creation of adaptable carbonyl compounds in organic synthesis, the oxidation of alcohols is a crucial step. As a sustainable alternative to the harmful traditional oxidation processes, transition-metal catalysts have recently attracted a lot of ...

Highly Efficient Kinetic Resolution of Aryl-Alkenyl Alcohols by Ru-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
No matter through asymmetric reduction of ketones or kinetic resolution of secondary alcohols, enantioselective synthesis of the corresponding secondary alcohols is challenging when the two groups attached to the prochiral or chiral centers are spatially

Highly Cooperative Tetrametallic Ruthenium-μ-Oxo-μ-Hydroxo Catalyst for the Alcohol Oxidation Reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The tetrametallic ruthenium-oxo-hydroxo-hydride complex {[(PCy3)(CO)RuH]4(μ4-O)(μ3-OH)(μ2-OH)} (1) was synthesized in two steps from the monomeric complex (PCy3)(CO)RuHCl (2).

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy secondary to alcohol withdrawal

open access: yesGlobal Cardiology Science and Practice, 2022
Physical, mental, and emotional stressors have been well known to adversely affect cardiac function. A rare complication of such stressors is stress cardiomyopathy, otherwise known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy. First identified in Japan in the 1990s, takotsubo cardiomyopathy classically presents with systolic dysfunction and apical ballooning.
