Fe3O4@SiO2/AEPTMS/Fe(OTf)3: An efficient superparamagnetic nanocatalyst for the protecting of alcohols [PDF]
Fe3O4@SiO2/AEPTMS/Fe(OTf)3 is a stable, effective, and magnetic nanocatalyst easily prepared and characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, TEM, and VSM techniques. This nanocatalyst was successfully applied for trimethylsilylation of numerous alcohols

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy secondary to alcohol withdrawal
Physical, mental, and emotional stressors have been well known to adversely affect cardiac function. A rare complication of such stressors is stress cardiomyopathy, otherwise known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy. First identified in Japan in the 1990s, takotsubo cardiomyopathy classically presents with systolic dysfunction and apical ballooning.

Secondary fatty alcohols of Mycobacterium xenopi [PDF]
Secondary alcohols of Mycobacterium xenopi were studied by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Mycobacterial cells were hydrolysed and the liberated alcohols separated by extraction and analysed both underivatized and as trimethylsilyl, methyl ether- and pentafluorobenzoyl derivatives.

One pot three component synthesis of α-methylated ketones from secondary and primary aryl alcohols
One pot three component synthesis of α-methylated ketones from secondary and primary alcohols via triple dehydrogenative method is presented here. This protocol uses a polystyrene supported catalyst and is reused for five runs without any drop in its ...

Naturally occurring long-chain β-hydroxyketones
A fraction comprising about 0.7% of the extractable surface lipids of cabbage (Brassica oleracea) leaves was isolated and identified as a mixture of isomeric βhydroxyketones consisting mainly of 14-keto-16-hydroxynonacosane and 15-keto-13 ...

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Self-Coupling of Secondary Alcohols
A simple catalytic method for self-coupling of secondary alcohols leading to the synthesis of β-branched ketones under mild conditions is reported. Well-defined ruthenium pincer complex catalyzed the reactions.
