Sunlight

2008
Sunlight is the electromagnetic radiation given off by the sun. It is passed through the atmosphere to the Earth, where the solar radiation is reflected as daylight. Sunshine results when the solar radiation is not blocked. Sunlight is the primary source of energy to the Earth.

SUNLIGHT AND HYPERCALCIURIA

The Lancet, 1975
Urinary calcium and magnesium excretion was measured in two groups of soldiers leaving the temperate climate of the united Kingdom for service in the Persian Gulf. In one group urinary calcium levels and magnesium/calcium ratios were similar, ten days after arrival in the Gulf during the "cold season", to those found in the U.K. The other group went to

Unraveling Sunlight by Transparent Organic Semiconductors toward Photovoltaic and Photosynthesis.

ACS Nano, 2019
Because the visible and the infrared (IR) regions take up ∼47% and ∼51% of the energy in the solar spectrum (AM 1.5G standard), respectively, utilizing the visible light for plant growth and the IR light for power generation is potentially extremely ...

Sunlight and cancer

Cancer Causes & Control, 1997
Epidemiologic evidence on the relation between sunlight and cancer is reviewed. Strong evidence implicates sunlight as a cause of skin cancer, although, for melanoma and basal cell carcinoma, the relationship is complex. Both types of cancer are associated more strongly with nonoccupational exposure than with occupational exposure, and the pattern and ...

The Influence of Simulated Sunlight on the Inactivation of Influenza Virus in Aerosols.

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2019
BACKGROUND Environmental parameters, including sunlight levels, are known to affect the survival of many microorganisms in aerosols. However, the impact of sunlight on the survival of influenza virus in aerosols has not been previously quantified ...

Energy from sunlight

1981
You will remember that in sunlight green plants add oxygen to the air. In 1860, about 100 years after Priestley’s work on the effects of plants and animals on the composition of air (see page 118), a German botanist Julius von Sachs demonstrated that in sunlight green leaves increase in mass.
