Abstract Ejections of magnetized plasma from the Sun, known as coronal mass ejections, can drive major geomagnetic activity if Earth‐directed, and are therefore monitored by space weather forecasters. The current focus being the forecast of the arrival time of a coronal mass ejection at Earth and the level of geomagnetic impact.

A Major Update to the PyIRI Model
Abstract This paper presents a major update to the PyIRI model, a fully vectorized Python implementation of the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI). The update reformulates the IRI core coefficients using spherical harmonics in Quasi‐Dipole (QD) latitude and Magnetic Local Time coordinates, replacing the legacy geographic‐coordinate‐based basis ...

Multi‐Wavelength Transformer‐Based 24‐Hour Solar Flare Forecasting at the Active‐Region Level
Abstract Solar flare forecasting remains challenging due to the complex spatiotemporal evolution of solar active regions (ARs) and the severe class imbalance associated with high‐impact events. In this work, we investigate a transformer‐based framework for active‐region–level solar flare forecasting using short sequences of multi‐wavelength ...

Axial length, myopia progression, and myopic maculopathy in Stickler syndrome
Abstract Purpose We lack knowledge on the potentially progressive nature of and the prevalence of complications to myopia as a characteristic trait of Stickler syndrome. Methods This cross‐sectional study combines ophthalmic examination and medical record data on Danish patients with genetically confirmed Stickler syndrome type 1 (COL2A1) and type 2 ...

1 A Recount of Sunspot Groups on Staudach’s Drawings
We have examined the more than 1100 drawings of the solar disk made by the German astronomy amateur Johann Caspar Staudach during 1749-1799 and counted the spots on each image.
