Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1954 Summary Various methods of predicting annual sunspot numbers are considered. Linear and curvilinear regressions on previous values give very inaccurate predictions and semi-empirical methods appear better. The representation of the series as an autoregressive process is unsatisfactory.
