Anterior chamber flare and central macular thickness after trabeculectomy versus after phacoemulsification

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To compare the inflammatory response in the eye after trabeculectomy to after phacoemulsification, focusing on anterior chamber flare (AC flare) and central macular thickness (CMT). Methods Data from 436 participants in two randomized controlled trials were analysed.

Width of Sunspot Generating Zone and Reconstruction of Butterfly Diagram

open access: yes, 2010
Based on the extended Greenwich-NOAA/USAF catalogue of sunspot groups it is demonstrated that the parameters describing the latitudinal width of the sunspot generating zone (SGZ) are closely related to the current level of solar activity, and the growth ...

Technique for Automated Recognition of Sunspots on Full-Disk Solar Images

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
A new robust technique is presented for automated identification of sunspots on full-disk white-light (WL) solar images obtained from SOHO/MDI instrument and Ca II K1 line images from the Meudon Observatory.

Vitreoretinal complications and surgical outcomes in patients with X‐linked retinoschisis

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose X‐linked retinoschisis (XLRS) is an inherited vitreoretinal disorder characterized by macular retinoschisis. In a subgroup of patients, peripheral retinoschisis can occur, potentially leading to complications such as vitreous haemorrhage (VH) and retinal detachment (RD).

Cyclic and Long-term Variation of Sunspot Magnetic Fields

open access: yes, 2013
Measurements from the Mount Wilson Observatory (MWO) are used to study the long-term variations of sunspot field strengths from 1920 to 1958. Following a modified approach similar to that in Pevtsov et al.

Solar Activity Spikes: A Comparative Analysis of Monthly Smoothed and Unsmoothed Sunspot Numbers

open access: yesUniverse
This work investigates the differences between the monthly and 13-month smoothed sunspot numbers since 1749, using data from sunspot number (version 2).

Long‐term outcomes of nationwide coordinated neovascular AMD treatment: A study based on Polish national registry

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate long‐term outcomes of anti‐VEGF therapy for nAMD using the Polish Retinal Therapeutic Program Monitoring Registry. Methods The cohort consisted of 63 840 eyes with nAMD qualified for treatment from 2016 to 2022, with follow‐up through 31 October 2023. Long‐term follow‐up (>5 years) was conducted for 7631 eyes.

Imperfect competition and sunspots [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper shows that imperfect competition can be a rich source of sunspots equilibria and coordination failures. This is demonstrated in a dynamic general equilibrium model that has no major distortions except imperfect competition.

Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome in children: What to keep an eye on

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the disease course in patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis (TINU) syndrome, focusing on long‐term outcome and the incidence of complications such as chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Solar Cycle Modulation of Total Irradiance: an Empirical Model from 1874 to 1988 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Evidence acquired during the past decade indicates that over time scales of the solar cycle, enhanced emission from bright solar faculae cause significant variations in the sun's total irradiance even though, on shorter time scales, the most pronounced ...
