Monolithic flux transformer-coupled high-Tc dc SQUID magnetometers [PDF]
YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-x/ based monolithic flux transformer-coupled high-T/sub c/ DC SQUID magnetometers operating up to 73 K have been realized. The devices are characterized by high values of the modulation voltage, up to 32 /spl mu/V at 40 K.

Superconducting traction transformer
An ongoing project to develop HTS traction transformers for the Chinese Fuxing high-speed train is demonstrating that the high-power density can be reached using high-temperature superconductors (HTS). The findings are spectacular: the existing 6.5 MVA traction transformers can be replaced with drop-in superconducting transformers, achieving targets of

SUPERCONDUCTING TRANSFORMER FOR SUPERCONDUCTING CABLE TESTS IN A MAGNETIC FIELD [PDF]
To meet the need in the applied superconductivity community of a cable test facility at high magnetic fields, a superconducting current transformer that was designed to deliver about 40 kA of DC current in Rutherford cables was designed and fabricated for operation in a 14 T/16 T solenoid with 77 mm bore. The existing infrastructure of the Short Sample

Quench protection of superconducting transformers.
Methods to protect superconducting transformers from premature quench due to local disturbances and excess current at accidental short-circuit were studied with regard to structure of the conductor and construction of the transformer. Average variations in temperature of the winding were calculated by a heat balance equation under the conditions both ...
