RESISTANCE IN SUPERCONDUCTORS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2010
In this pedagogical review, we discuss how electrical resistance can arise in superconductors. Starting with the idea of the superconducting order parameter as a condensate wave function, we introduce vortices as topological excitations with quantized phase winding, and we show how phase slips occur when vortices cross the sample.

A Holographic Superconductor in an External Magnetic Field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study a system of a complex charged scalar coupled to a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole in 3+1 dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime, neglecting back-reaction.

Tailoring magnetization reversal of a single-domain bar nanomagnet via its end geometry

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Nanoscale single-domain bar magnets are building blocks for a variety of fundamental and applied mesoscopic magnetic systems, such as artificial spin ices, magnetic shape-morphing microbots, and magnetic majority logic gates.

Characterize the Speed of a Photon-Number-Resolving Superconducting Nanowire Detector

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Superconducting series nanowire single-photon detectors (SNDs) have been used for resolving photon numbers. But it can also exhibit a higher counting rate than a single superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD), because the serial ...

Dual-color terahertz spatial light modulator for single-pixel imaging

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2022
Liquid crystal metasurface based spatial light modulator is developed for terahertz dual-color compressive imaging. Significant improvement of imaging quality and speed is demonstrated using proposed auto-calibrated algorithms and frequency-switching ...

Proximity effect in normal metal-multiband superconductor hybrid structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A theory of the proximity effect in normal metal¿multiband superconductor hybrid structures is formulated within the quasiclassical Green's function formalism.

Field-induced superconducting phase in superconductor–normal metal and superconductor-superconductor bilayers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2011
We study the proximity effect in a superconductor (S)-normal metal (N) bilayer under in-plane magnetic field. A compensation between the Zeeman effect and the energy splitting between bonding and anti-bonding levels leads to a magnetic field induced superconducting phase in the (H,T) phase diagram of the S-N bilayer well above the standard paramagnetic

Superconducting Properties of YBa2Cu3O7−δ with a Multiferroic Addition Synthesized by a Capping Agent-Aided Thermal Treatment Method

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
A bulk YBa2Cu3O7−δ (Y-123) superconductor synthesized by a thermal treatment method was added with different weight percentages (x = 0.0, 0.2, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt.%) of BiFeO3 (BFO) nanoparticle.

Microstructure and Superconducting Properties of Bi-2223 Synthesized via Co-Precipitation Method: Effects of Graphene Nanoparticle Addition

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The effects of graphene addition on the phase formation and superconducting properties of (Bi1.6Pb0.4)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (Bi-2223) ceramics synthesized using the co-precipitation method were systematically investigated.
