Supercooled confinement

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
A bstract We study general properties of confinement phase transitions in the early universe. An observable gravitational wave signal from such transitions requires significant supercooling.

Supercooling capacity and cold hardiness of the eggs of the grasshopper Chorthippus fallax (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2004
Cold tolerance of the eggs of the grasshopper, Chorthippus fallax (Zubovsky), was examined in the laboratory. Egg supercooling points varied from -6°C to -32.4°C and could be divided into two groups. The supercooling points of the higher SCP group ranged

Thermo-magnetic history effects in the vortex state of YNi_2B_2C superconductor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The nature of five-quadrant magnetic isotherms for is different from that for in a single crystal of YNi2B2C, pointing towards an anisotropic behaviour of the flux line lattice (FLL).

Experimental study of the effects of ultrasound on the supercooling of water

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2003
The research on the supercooling of water is important in the fields of ice storage and cryobiology. The pressure fluctuation brought by the ultrasound will influence the supercooling and nucleation process of water. In this study experiments are carried ...

Cold tolerance and trehalose accumulation in overwintering larvae of the codling moth, Cydia pomonella (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2007
Seasonal variations in the supercooling point, survival at low temperatures and sugar content were studied in field-collected codling moth larvae. The supercooling point of field-collected larvae decreased significantly from a mean value of -13.4°C in ...

Effect of pre-existing baryon inhomogeneities on the dynamics of quark-hadron transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Baryon number inhomogeneities may be generated during the epoch when the baryon asymmetry of the universe is produced, e.g. at the electroweak phase transition.

Circularly Polarized Luminescent and Melt‐Processable Copper(I)‐Organic Glasses Based on 2,2′‐Bis(diphenylphosphino)‐1,1′‐binaphthyl

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Homochiral Cu(I) cyanide complexes based on 2,2’‐bis(diphenylphosphino)‐1,1’‐binaphthyl (BINAP) form melt‐quenched and desolvation‐derived metal–organic glasses that exhibit circularly polarized thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) at room temperature, enabling processable chiroptical materials.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.
