Adsorption of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide on Silica
Langmuir, 2001In this work, the adsorption isotherms of carbon dioxide on silica have been measured with a gravimetric method at nine different temperature values (from 312 up to 466 K) and at pressure levels up to 366 bar. The adopted technique allows for a direct evaluation of the density that is measured simultaneously to the adsorption load, thus avoiding ...

Dyeing of Cotton in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Dyes and Pigments, 1998Abstract The dyeing of cellulosic fibers with disperse and natural dyes was attempted using supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2SCF) as solvent system. The dye uptake was strongly increased if cotton was pretreated with polyethylene glycol (PEG), a known plasticizing agent of cellulose, while reasonable wet-washing and light fastness properties were ...

Synthesis of Fluoropolymers in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Science, 1992Fluoropolymers are used in many technologically demanding applications because of their balance of high-performance properties. A significant impediment to the synthesis of variants of commercially available amorphous fluoropolymers is their general insolubility in most solvents except chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

Solubility of Cannabinol in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2010Cannabinol (CBN) is a decomposition product of the cannabinoid (-)-¿9-tetrahydrocannabinol (¿9-THC), the main active compound of cannabis. The solubility of CBN in supercritical carbon dioxide was determined at (314, 327, and 334) K and in the pressure range from (13.0 to 20.2) MPa by using an analytical method with a quasi-flow apparatus.

Olefin Metathesis in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2001Liquid or supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO(2)) is a versatile reaction medium for ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and ring-closing olefin metathesis (RCM) reactions using well-defined metal catalysts. The molybdenum alkylidene complex 1 and ruthenium carbenes 2 and 3 bearing PCy(3) or N-heterocyclic carbene ligands, respectively, can be

Dispersion Polymerizations in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Science, 1994Conventional heterogeneous dispersion polymerizations of unsaturated monomers are performed in either aqueous or organic dispersing media with the addition of interfacially active agents to stabilize the colloidal dispersion that forms. Successful stabilization of the polymer colloid during polymerization results in the formation of high ...

Precipitation of Proteins in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1996Supercritical CO2 was used as an antisolvent to form protein particles that exhibited minimal loss of activity upon reconstitution. Organic protein solutions were sprayed under a variety of operating conditions into the supercritical fluid, causing precipitation of dry, microparticulate (1-5 microns) protein powders.

Pharmaceutical Processing with Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1997Replacement of traditional solvents with "environmentally benign" carbon dioxide is receiving increased attention in pharmaceutical processing. Among the reported applications, particle formation with dense carbon dioxide and the "clean" synthesis of drug compounds using carbon dioxide as a reaction medium hold immense potential for large-scale ...
