Production of Porous Agarose-Based Structures: Freeze-Drying vs. Supercritical CO2 Drying [PDF]
In this work, the effect of two processes, i.e., freeze-drying and supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) drying, on the final morphology of agarose-based porous structures, was investigated. The agarose concentration in water was varied from 1 wt% up to 8 wt%. Agarose cryogels were prepared by freeze-drying using two cooling rates: 2.5 °C/min and 0.1 °C/min.

Supercritical drying of cementitious materials [PDF]
Techniques to characterize the microstructure of hydrated cement require dried materials. However, the microstructure of hydrated products is significantly altered by high capillary forces during drying when using the conventional drying methods. To avoid drying stresses when preparing samples, we have employed supercritical drying (SCD) which has been

Modeling and scale-up of supercritical fluid processes. Part I: Supercritical drying
Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2015Abstract The mathematical model has been developed to describe the hydrodynamics of supercritical fluid flow in the reactor, heat, and mass transfer during drying processes for aerogels production. The model is based on the provisions of continuum mechanics, and Ansys Fluent is used for its calculation. In this research, the medium inside the reactor

Supercritical drying of barium titanate alcogels
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics, 2002Aerogels are nanostructured materials containing a large volume of interconnected porosity, which are generated by the supercritical drying of sol-gel systems. Barium metal and titanium butoxide derived sol has been used to generate transparent alcogels.

Design of supercritical fluid extractor using dry ice as a supercritical solvent
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019The supercritical fluid extraction is the most effective and efficient way to extract valuable constituent in botanicals but the apparatus is usually very complex, complicated and expensive. Carbon dioxide gas needs to be pumped and pressed to reach its supercritical pressure.
