Composite nanocapsules of phase change materials using a supercritical carbon dioxide (SC‐CO2) assisted process

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 103, Issue 4, Page 1723-1735, April 2025.
Reverse cycle of absorption and release of thermal energy of phase change materials. Abstract This work reports the production of polymeric nanocapsules of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)/phase change materials (PCM), using continuous supercritical emulsion extraction (SEE‐C).

Harnessing Fruit and Vegetable Waste for Biofuel Production: Advances and Scope for Future Development

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2025.
Waste utilization from fruit and vegetable waste. ABSTRACT Extreme exploitation of petroleum fuels has raised concerns around global warming due to increased greenhouse gas emissions, which by the year 2040 are expected to rise by around 43 billion metric tons.

The Effect of Different Extraction Techniques on the Bioactive Characteristics of Dill (Anethum graveolens) Essential Oil

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
This study explores the extraction of Anethum graveolens essential oil (EO) using advanced techniques, including Superheated Steam Extraction (SHSE), and compares them with traditional methods such as Hydro Distillation (HD), Steam Distillation (SD), and Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction (SCF‐CO2).

Ultrasound‐assisted extraction versus traditional Soxhlet apparatus for the obtention of polyphenols, carotenoids and tocopherols from Tagetes erecta L. flowers

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 3453-3462, April 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND Tagetes erecta L., commonly known as American marigold, serves as a food plant used for the extraction of carotenoids such as lutein, employed both as culinary ingredient in certain dishes and for its ornamental and medicinal applications.

Hydrogen Storage and Release via Carbon Dioxide Hydrogenation to Formate Salts under High‐Pressure Conditions with Ir Complex and Subsequent Formic Acid Dehydrogenation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2025.
We demonstrated the potential of formic acid for efficient hydrogen storage and regeneration through CO₂ reduction followed by dehydrogenation. Using Cp*Ir catalysts with an amino‐substituted bipyridine ligand, we achieved a 96 % yield of formic acid with a formate concentration of 0.81 mol/L under supercritical conditions, followed by dehydrogenation ...

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Processes and Products of Turbidity Currents and Submarine Landslides in a Glacierized Fjord (Southwind Fjord, Baffin Island)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Sediment transported to fjords is redistributed by turbidity currents and sometimes fails on steep sidewall slopes, forming marine geohazards that are known to impact infrastructure. Since marine geohazards are poorly understood in Arctic Fjords due to lack of data and monitoring, a comprehensive study of Southwind Fjord, Baffin Island, was ...

Influence of Carbon Dioxide on Micro‐Cracking in Calcite: An Atomistic Scale Investigation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract In candidate formations for geological Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), carbonate minerals (e.g., calcite) are ubiquitously presented. The dynamic process of chemically induced alteration on carbonate‐rich reservoirs due to the injection of supercritical CO2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ holds paramount importance for achieving an economic injectivity ...

Seasonality of Internal Tides in the Strait of Hormuz: Observations and Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The seasonality of internal tides in shallow seas is primarily controlled by changes in stratification. This study explores how semidiurnal and diurnal internal tides respond differently to seasonal stratification, using mooring observations and numerical modeling in the Strait of Hormuz, the gateway for hypersaline Arabian Gulf waters ...

Solid structure of Li2BeF4 (FLiBe) from room temperature to melting studied by neutron and X‐ray diffraction

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 2, Page 435-446, April 2025.
The volume expansion of Li2BeF4 upon melting is less than 5%. The equation describing the change in density of Li2BeF4 due to thermal expansion from room temperature to melting has been measured by neutron and X‐ray diffraction, and the density is found to change depending on molecular weight and enrichment.
