Single domain ferromagnetic particles at elevated temperatures can behave magnetically in a manner analogous to the Langevin paramagnetism of moment-bearing atoms. The main distinction is that the moment of the particle may be 105 times the atomic moment. The experimental and theoretical foundations of this effect are reviewed and indication is made of

Superparamagnetic Clustering of Data
Physical Review Letters, 1996We present a new approach for clustering, based on the physical properties of an inhomogeneous ferromagnetic model. We do not assume any structure of the underlying distribution of the data. A Potts spin is assigned to each data point and short range interactions between neighboring points are introduced.

Superparamagnetism of Cu2Se Nanoparticles
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2012Cu2Se nanoparticles were synthesized using the standard Schlenk line and glove box techniques, with the hot-injection method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the initial nanoparticles were formed in a stoichiometric Cu2Se phase with a cubic structure.

Multifunctional Superparamagnetic Janus Particles
Langmuir, 2009In this study, we report the microfluidic-based synthesis of a multifunctional Janus hydrogel particle with anisotropic superparamagnetic properties and chemical composition for the bottom-up assembly of hydrogel superstructures. In a uniform magnetic field, the resulting Janus magnetic particles fabricated in the present method exhibit chainlike or ...

Magnetoelectric Control of Superparamagnetism
Nano Letters, 2013Here we demonstrate electric-field induced magnetic anisotropy in a multiferroic composite containing nickel nanocrystals strain coupled to a piezoelectric substrate. This system can be switched between a superparamagnetic state and a single-domain ferromagnetic state at room temperature.

Plasmonic Gold−Superparamagnetic Hematite Heterostructures
Langmuir, 2011Bifunctional heterostructures composed of gold nanorods and hematite nanoparticle aggregates are prepared facilely through the hydrothermal decomposition of ferric acetylacetonate on the surface of the nanorods. The gold nanorod in the heterostructure is partially coated with the hematite nanoparticle aggregates. The hematite coating is porous.

Superparamagnetic Hybrid Nanocylinders
Advanced Functional Materials, 2004AbstractWell‐defined cylindrical polymer brushes with poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) cores and poly(n‐butyl acrylate) (PnBA) shells have been synthesized via a combination of anionic polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization. These amphiphilic brushes are unimolecular cylindrical micelles and can be used as single‐molecular templates for the ...

Superparamagnetic nanocrystalline CuFe2O4
Journal of Applied Physics, 2000Cubic CuFe2O4 was prepared by coprecipitation in a polymer matrix. Crystallite size and particle size of the prepared samples, determined from x-ray data and transmission electron microscopy analyses respectively, are in the range of nanocrystalline materials. Cation distribution of the nanocrystalline samples was determined from x-ray diffraction data.

Superparamagnetic Photonic Crystals
Advanced Materials, 2001Photonic crystals consisting of monodisperse superparamagnetic colloidal particles have been synthesized. The particles (see Figure) are obtained by emulsion polymerization of styrene in the presence of freshly precipitated surface-modified iron oxide nanoparticles.
