A selectivity-controlled adsorbent of molybdenum disulfide nanosheets armed with superparamagnetism for rapid capture of mercury ions.

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2019
Although the mercury pollution is declining in the Western and European parts of the world, it is still a widespread environmental concern because of its notorious toxic effects on aquatic ecosystems and human health.

Interaction of superparamagnetic and non-superparamagnetic particles in magnetic fluid

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1995
Magnetic fluids are known to contain superparamagnetic and non-superparamagnetic particles. In this paper, an attempt has been made to show the interaction between superparamagnetic and non-superparamagnetic particles experimentally by measuring the initial susceptibility, over a wide temperature range, of manganese-zinc ferrite and cobalt ferrite ...

Superparamagnetism in hematite

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1967
It is well known that small particles of ferromagnetic material show superparamagnetic behavior. The magnetic properties of hematite, which has a weak spontaneous magnetization show superparamagnetic behavior in grains which are as large as 1/4 to 1/2 μ in diameter.

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles in tap water

Water Research, 2007
Magnetization measurements are a useful tool in the characterization of corrosion products formed in municipal water pipes made of iron or steel. Fine particles formed in corrosion processes exhibit superparamagnetic behavior. The size of such particles, which determines their capacity to adsorb hazardous species, can therefore be found from magnetic ...

Degeneration of biogenic superparamagnetic magnetite

Geobiology, 2009
ABSTRACTMagnetite crystals precipitated as a consequence of Fe(III) reduction by Shewanella algae BrY after 265 h incubation and 5‐year anaerobic storage were investigated with transmission electron microscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction. The magnetite crystals were typically superparamagnetic with an approximate size of 13 nm.

Cobalt-Based Superparamagnetic Nanorings

Nano Letters, 2004
Remarkable optical and magnetic properties were observed in a Co-thiol-polymer composite. The Co and the thiol ligand used to passivate the Co surface, instead of generating isolated nanoparticles, grow into nanorings with a radius around 2 nm. These structures consist of small clusters of metallic Co connected by alkylthiol chains.
