Multifunctional Superparamagnetic Janus Particles
Langmuir, 2009In this study, we report the microfluidic-based synthesis of a multifunctional Janus hydrogel particle with anisotropic superparamagnetic properties and chemical composition for the bottom-up assembly of hydrogel superstructures. In a uniform magnetic field, the resulting Janus magnetic particles fabricated in the present method exhibit chainlike or ...

Superparamagnetic enhancement of thermoelectric performance
Nature, 2017The ability to control chemical and physical structuring at the nanometre scale is important for developing high-performance thermoelectric materials. Progress in this area has been achieved mainly by enhancing phonon scattering and consequently decreasing the thermal conductivity of the lattice through the design of either interface structures at ...

The transition in the spin-dependent transport from superparamagnetic-superparamagnetic (SPM-SPM) to superparamagnetic-ferromagnetic (SPM-FM) in room temperature co-sputtered granular Cu100−xCox (x = 15.1–30.9 at. %) thin films is tracked by varying the cobalt concentration.

Magnetocaloric effect in superparamagnets
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1992The magnetocaloric effect is calculated for superparamagnetic materials as a function of temperature, field and cluster size. Assuming classical behavior, a universal curve is calculated from which an optimum cluster moment may be found for maximum entropy change upon application of a given field H at a given temperature T. Quantum effects are shown to

Electrical control of superparamagnetism
Applied Physics Express, 2016Abstract The electric field control of superparamagnetism is realized using a Cu/Ni system, in which the deposited Ni shows superparamagnetic behavior above the blocking temperature. An electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) with the Cu/Ni electrode and a nonmagnetic counter electrode is fabricated to examine the electric field effect on

Plasmonic Gold−Superparamagnetic Hematite Heterostructures
Langmuir, 2011Bifunctional heterostructures composed of gold nanorods and hematite nanoparticle aggregates are prepared facilely through the hydrothermal decomposition of ferric acetylacetonate on the surface of the nanorods. The gold nanorod in the heterostructure is partially coated with the hematite nanoparticle aggregates. The hematite coating is porous.
