Sub- and supersonic expansion of an arc channel in liquid
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2006Post-breakdown expansion of a submerged discharge was considered taking into account the curvature of the plasma boundary and the sound and shock wave fronts. Numerical calculations were performed for an inter-electrode gap of 10−5 m, electrical current and voltage of 10 A and 100 V, respectively and a water medium.

Electronic excitations of magnesium tetraphenylporphyrin in supersonic expansions
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1982In this paper we report the results of our experimental study of the fluorescence excitation spectrum of Mg tetraphenylporphyrin (MgTPP) seeded in supersonic expansions of He. The spectra of the ’’isolated,’’ internally cold, bare MgTPP molecule reveal a well-resolved vibrational structure for the S0→S1 transition (the Q band), as well as for the S0→S2

SF6 condensation in supersonic nozzle expansions
The Physics of Fluids, 1979The condensation of SF6 in a dilute mixture with either Ar or He as a carrier gas when quickly expanded in a small, adjustable nozzle is investigated. Condensation is observed by monitoring the disappearance of individual rotational-state lines in the SF6 ν4 absorption band.

Laser plasma production and expansion in a supersonic flow
40th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting & Exhibit, 2002Laser plasma was produced in a Af=2 flow, in a quiescent standard atmosphere, and in a quiescent air at reduced pressure. The efficiency in producing an explosion was estimated from the shadowgraph images. In the M=2 flow, the efficiency was found 0.4. This value was almost same with that in the quiescent standard atmosphere.

On the total axial-symmetric expansion of a supersonic stream
Acta Astronautica, 1982Abstract This paper is concerned with an axi-symmetric expansion, namely the one obtained by injecting a supersonic stream outside a circular porous cone. The equations are solved for given initial conditions by using a numerical method. Certain similarities with the two-dimensional Prandtl-Meyer expansion are presented.
