Self-supervised learning for transferable representations [PDF]

open access: yes
Machine learning has undeniably achieved remarkable advances thanks to large labelled datasets and supervised learning. However, this progress is constrained by the labour-intensive annotation process.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Efficient Non-Parametric Function Induction in Semi-Supervised Learning [PDF]

open access: yes
There has been an increase of interest for semi-supervised learning recently, because of the many datasets with large amounts of unlabeled examples and only a few labeled ones.

Predictive Modeling of the Hydrate Formation Temperature in Highly Pressurized Natural Gas Pipelines

open access: yesEnergies
In this study, we aim to develop advanced machine learning regression models for the prediction of hydrate temperature based on the chemical composition of sweet gas mixtures.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Projection Pursuit for Exploratory Supervised Classification [PDF]

open access: yes
In high-dimensional data, one often seeks a few interesting low-dimensional projections that reveal important features of the data. Projection pursuit is a procedure for searching high-dimensional data for interesting low-dimensional projections via the ...

SUPERVISION OF SUPERVISION

open access: yesPsihoterapija : Časopis Instituta za grupnu analizu, Hrvatskog psihoanalitičkog društva i Hrvatskog društva za psihoanalitičku psihoterapiju, 2018
The paper describes how the supervisor’s awareness of their covert processes, thoughts, and feelings increased as a direct result of the work in the median group and in the supervision of supervision. When the supervisor misses the parallel process in the supervision group, it can be discovered in the supervision of supervision and during self-analysis.

From Evidence to Practice: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis on the Effects of Supervised Exercise on Fatigue in Breast and Prostate Cancer Survivors

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Background: Breast and prostate cancer represent a significant global public health burden. Among the adverse effects of oncological treatments, fatigue is one of the most prevalent, persistent, and disabling symptoms. Therapeutic exercise has been shown

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
