Resolving Oxidative and Corrosive Calendar‐Aging via Electrolyte Engineering for Stable Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A weakly solvating ether solvent, 1,2‐dimethoxypropane (DMP), is proposed for use in localized high‐concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) for lithium metal batteries (LMBs). These DMP‐based LHCEs simultaneously suppress lithium metal corrosion and cathode degradation—two interrelated processes that accelerate calendar aging of LMBs.

Surface steric effect in heterogeneous catalysis as the origin of the high activity induced by strong metal-support interactions

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Supported nanoparticles offer unique opportunities for enhancing catalytic activity via strong metal-support interaction (SMSI). Even with state-of-the-art experimental techniques, the atomistic origin of this enhancement remains unclear, while ...

Statutory erosion of secured creditors' rights: some insights from the United Kingdom

open access: yes, 2015
As the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Commission to Study the Reform of Chapter 11 considers the state of business bankruptcy in this country, the narrative on chapter 11 is well-established and oft-repeated.

Upscaling Sodium‐Ion Battery Cells: From Aqueous Processing to Performance Assessment of Hard Carbon|Prussian White Pouch Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the feasibility of scaling up Prussian White (PW)‐based cathode manufacturing at a pilot scale. Through careful PW dehydration combined with optimized aqueous processing, we report the stepwise development of industrially relevant 1 Ah pouch cells and evaluate their performance under various conditions.

Alcohol‐Adduct Mediated Precursor Stabilization Strategies for Conformal SnO2 Layers in Highly Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
An alcohol‐adduct‐mediated strategy is employed to stabilize tin isopropoxide for the formation of a homogeneous double electron transport layer (ETL) incorporating SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs). This double‐ETL exhibits improved optical and charge‐transport properties due to reduced defect density and better energy level alignment, resulting in high ...

I (D,B)- supra pre maps via supra topological ordered spaces

open access: yes, 2017
Sayed [19] defined a supra -open set and studied its basic properties. In this work, we introduce various forms of supra continuous (supra open, supra closed, supra homeomorphism) maps in supra topological ordered spaces by using the notions of supra ...

A Quantitative Lithium Inventory Framework for Anode‐Free Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A component‐resolved lithium inventory framework quantitatively tracks Li redistribution across the cell in anode‐free NMC622||Cu pouch cells throughout cycling. Three sequential degradation stages are identified: formation‐driven cathode Li depletion, midlife inactive Li0 accumulation, and late‐stage runaway SEI thickening. The cathode, as the sole Li

Effects of irradiance during growth on tolerance of geranium to sub- and supra-optimal boron supply

open access: yes, 2014
In our previous study on geranium, we showed that increases in growth irradiance from sub-optimal to near-optimal could delay boron deficiency effects on photosynthesis. In this study, we further investigated the effects of growth irradiance on tolerance
