Technical Guide and Tips to Arthroscopic Trans‐scapular Transfer of Lower Trapezius for Irreparable Subscapularis Tears

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract The efficacy of tendon transfers in the treatment of irreparable subscapularis tears has been inconsistent, with frequently unsatisfactory outcomes. We describe a technique for transfer of the lower trapezius tendon to the lesser tuberosity using an Achilles tendon allograft through a trans‐scapular route after a scapular osteotomy.

A Study on Morphometry and Morphological Variation of Suprascapular Notch in Dried Human Scapula

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2017
Introduction: The Suprascapular Notch (SSN) is located at the superior border of the scapula, just medial to the base of the coracoid process. The knowledge of variations in shapes and dimensions can be helpful to clinicians to correlate the ...

Corticosteroid Injections for Frozen Shoulder: A Global Online Survey of Health Professionals' Current Practice and Opinion

open access: yesMusculoskeletal Care, Volume 23, Issue 1, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Frozen shoulder is a disabling condition characterised by severe pain and loss of shoulder movement. Corticosteroid injections are targeted at reducing pain in the earlier painful phase. There are multiple studies on the effectiveness of injections for frozen shoulder, but none were identified to assess if this guidance has been ...

Variation in morphology of suprascapular notch as a factor of suprascapular nerve entrapment [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Orthopaedics, 2013
The shape and size of the suprascapular notch (SSN) is one of the most important risk factors in suprascapular nerve entrapment. The aim of the study was to perform a morphological study of SSN variations.A total of 616 computer tomography scans of scapulae were retrospectively analysed in 308 patients.

Arthroscopic‐guided Release of Supraspinatus and Infraspinatus Muscles for Repair of Large‐to‐Massive Rotator Cuff Tear and Suprascapular Nerve Release

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract This technical note presents an all‐arthroscopic technique designed to release and advance the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles in cases of massive posterosuperior rotator cuff tears involving the retracted muscles. The aim is to avoid neuromuscular damage and facilitate tension‐free repair by reducing the anatomical tendon footprint ...

Variations in the origin and course of the suprascapular artery: case report and literature review

open access: yesJornal Vascular Brasileiro, 2018
The suprascapular artery is normally a branch of the thyrocervical trunk of the subclavian artery. During dissection of the left upper limb of a female cadaver, aged 70 years and fixed in 10% formalin solution, the suprascapular artery was observed ...

Comprehensive Endoscopic Brachial Plexus Release for Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Including Suprascapular Nerve Release and Scalenotomy

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract Thoracic outlet syndrome is characterized by compression of neurovascular structures including the brachial plexus. Endoscopic techniques for brachial plexus neurolysis are emerging as treatment options when properly indicated. This technical note presents an updated comprehensive endoscopic technique for infraclavicular and supraclavicular ...

Anterior Arthroscopic Approach for Multidirectional Shoulder Instability: Posterior Bone Block, Dynamic Anterior Stabilization, and Modified McLaughlin

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Multidirectional shoulder instability represents an ongoing challenge for orthopaedic surgeons, and multiple techniques have been described to treat this condition. Posterior glenoid dysplasia is a known risk factor for posterior instability as well as persistent or recurrent instability following posterior stabilization procedures.
