Introduction. The political mobilisation of criminal law and its resistance in the Global South

open access: yesOñati Socio-Legal Series
The articles presented in this special issue explore the relationship between politics and law in the context of the Global South. While some of the contributions examined this relationship through the symbolic power of the law, others focused on how ...

Q-stars in extra dimensions

open access: yes, 2004
We study q-stars with global and local U(1) symmetry in extra dimensions in asymptotically anti de Sitter or flat spacetime. The behavior of the mass, radius and particle number of the star is quite different in 3 dimensions, but in 5, 6, 8 and 11 ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2006

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Using global warming potential to compare methane and CO2 emissions) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in gauge theories via Bose-Einstein condensation

open access: yes, 2003
We propose a mechanism naturally leading to the spontaneous symmetry breaking in a gauge theory. The Higgs field is assumed to have global and gauged internal symmetries. We associate a non zero chemical potential to one of the globally conserved charges

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Litigio Climático y Derechos Humanos en el Sur Global. Apuntes para el debate

open access: yesEunomia
