Investigation of interface properties of sputter deposited TiN/CrN superlattices by low-angle X-ray reflectivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Approximately 1.8 m thick nanolayered multilayer coatings of TiN/CrN (also known as superlattices) were deposited on silicon (100) substrates at different modulation wavelengths (4.6–12.8 nm), substrate temperatures (50-400 °C) and substrate bias ...

Influence of Surface-Modified Montmorillonite Clays on the Properties of Elastomeric Thin Layer Nanocomposites

open access: yesMaterials, 2023
In recent years, polyurethane nanocomposites have attracted more attention due to the massive demand for materials with increasingly exceptional mechanical, optical, electrical, and thermal properties. As nanofillers have a high surface area, the interaction between the nanofiller and the polymer matrix is an essential issue for these materials.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Quantum Theory of Helimagnetic Thin Films

open access: yes, 2014
We study properties of a helimagnetic thin film with quantum Heisenberg spin model by using the Green's function method. Surface spin configuration is calculated by minimizing the spin interaction energy.

Electrophoretic impregnation of porous anodic aluminum oxide film by silica nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, it is proposed to study the deposition of nanoparticles by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) inside a porous anodic aluminum oxide film.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Characterization of gold nanoparticle layer deposited on gold electrode by various techniques for improved sensing abilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The deposition of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on the surface of gold electrode is believed to enhance the electrochemical characteristics of the surface. According to the existing literature, this could be performed in various ways.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Modification mechanism of Cu–Al alloy with pre-cladded Al/AlY layers treated by plasma nitriding: Experiments and first-principles calculations

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The improvement in the properties of aluminum bronze alloys after nitriding is limited due to the immiscibility of nitrogen atoms with the copper matrix. To address this issue, a Cu-Al intermetallic compound prelayer is used, and the rare earth element Y

Magnetic reconstruction at (001) CaMnO$_3$ surface

open access: yes, 1999
The Mn-terminated (001) surface of the stable anti-ferromagnetic insulating phase of cubic perovskite CaMnO$_3$ is found to undergo a magnetic reconstruction consisting on a spin-flip process at surface: each Mn spin at the surface flips to pair with ...
