Surface Wave Forces Acting on Submerged Logs
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2002Drag forces exerted on cylindrical simulated logs by flowing water are measured in a laboratory flume. Drag coefficient values calculated from these data are presented for a range of log submergence and slenderness values. Drag coefficients for large submergence values are consistent with those previously published.

The age of the pipe and the material affect the water quality. The water monitoring and testing parameters are limited to water quality and not pipe health. Nonlinearity in Elastic Surface Waves Acts Nonlocally
2006Since elastic surface waves are examples of guided waves, nonlinear effects are significant only between linearized modes which have good matching of both phase and group velocities. Within homogeneous half-spaces, linearized modes travelling across the surface in any direction are completely non-dispersive.
