AbstractA method is presented to remesh three‐dimensional discrete data surfaces. The originality of the method resides in mimicking heavily the classical adva10ncing front method for quality while always relying on a valid mesh for robustness. Therefore, local operations are applied in a first step to obtain a mesh of appropriate length scale compared

A factored approach to subdivision surfaces
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2004Polygons are a ubiquitous modeling primitive in computer graphics. However, modeling with polygons is problematic for highly faceted approximations to smooth surfaces. The sheer size of these approximations makes them impossible to manipulate directly.

A NEW APPROACH FOR SURFACE INTERSECTION
International Journal of Computational Geometry & Applications, 1991Evaluating the intersection of two rational parametric surfaces is a recurring operation in solid modeling. However, surface intersection is not an easy problem and continues to be an active topic of research. The main reason lies in the fact that any good surface intersection technique has to balance three conflicting goals of accuracy, robustness ...

A Novel Approach for Surface to Surface Intersection Approximation
2013 17th International Conference on Information Visualisation, 2013A new technique for approximating intersection curves of two parametric surfaces is presented, which extracts boundary points and turning points from a sequence of intersection points and interpolate them with the help of cubic spline function.

Approach of facial surfaces by contour
2014 International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems (ICMCS), 2014In this work we have made a face recognition system based on the analysis of facial surfaces by analyzing the contours extracted from the 3D representation of human faces, called facial curves. Our recognition system uses the face representation of the image to the gray level as 2D surface in 3D space, with the third coordinate proportional to the ...

Topological Approach to Quantum Surfaces
Communications in Mathematical Physics, 1999A topological approach to quantisation of closed surfaces is presented. This is done by imposing the following ``minimal'' requirements for a quantisation \(R\) of a closed Riemann surface \(\Sigma\) of genus \(g\geq 2\): \(R\) is a unital \(C^*\)-algebra, both \(R\) and \(C(\Sigma)\) are fibres in a continuous family of \(C^*\)-algebras over a path ...

An analogue approach to surface definition
Computer-Aided Design, 1973Abstract This note describes a method for producing cubic curves made up from Bezier functions on an oscilloscope screen using simple analogue techniques. Ruled surface patches are illustrated in a simple extension of the method. It also indicates how generalized Bezier patches could be produced.
