Surface Reconstruction by a Coassembly Approach
Angewandte Chemie, 2019AbstractMaterials with switchable surfaces, capable of changing surface properties under external stimuli, are playing a pivotal role in many applications, such as tissue engineering, biosensors, and drug/protein delivery. In this research silica particles with patterned and switchable surfaces are fabricated.

An Efficient Approach for Surface Creation
2005In this paper, we present an efficient method for generation of free from surfaces using the solution to a fourth order partial differential equation. In the interest of computational efficiency, the surface function is taken to be the combination of the boundary functions modulated by some unknown functions.

A surface-based approach to DNA computation
Journal of Computational Biology, 1998A scalable approach to DNA-based computations is described. Complex combinatorial mixtures of DNA molecules encoding all possible answers to a computational problem are synthesized and attached to the surface of a solid support. This set of molecules is queried in successive MARK (hybridization) and DESTROY (enzymatic digestion) operations ...

A Generalized Approach to the Modification of Solid Surfaces
Science, 2005Interfacial interactions underpin phenomena ranging from adhesion to surface wetting. Here, we describe a simple, rapid, and robust approach to modifying solid surfaces, based on an ultrathin cross-linkable film of a random copolymer, which does not rely on specific surface chemistries. Specifically, thin films of benzocyclobutene-functionalized random

A surface blending approach for displacement features on freeform surfaces
Computer-Aided Design, 2011Embedding a number of displacement features into a base surface is common in industrial product design and modeling, where displaced surface regions are blended with the unmodified surface region. The cubic Hermite interpolant is usually adopted for surface blending, in which tangent plane smoothness across the boundary curve is achieved.

Approach to the anhysteretic surface
Journal of Applied Physics, 1996In this paper, we have investigated experimentally the approach to the anhysteretic surface in M–H–σ space. In particular, for a 0.5 wt% carbon steel specimen, we have applied 73 MPa tension and a bias field H and determined the end flux density after superimposing an ac field of amplitude gradually decreasing to zero.

A Graph–Based Approach to Surface Reconstruction
Computer Graphics Forum, 1995AbstractA new approach to the reconstruction of a surface from an unorganized set of points in space is presented. The point set may for example be obtained with a laser scanner or a manual digitizing tool, and is the only source of information about the shape of the acquired object.

A novel approach to the surface area of erythrocytes
Journal of Biomechanics, 1979Abstract The profile of the average normal human erythrocyte is shown to be comparable with that of two pendant drops joined at their necks. A method is given for calculating erythrocyte surface areas by suitable revolution of the equivalent pendant drop profile, and a simple test is shown for determining the degree to which any erythrocyte profile ...

A “lifegame” approach to surface modeling and rendering
The Visual Computer, 1986Conways's lifegame is a trivial and well-known application of a more general theory called the theory of cellular automata. Complex systems modeling may be based on the theory of cellular automata, originated by John von Neumann. Our approach is to define simple components that we call ``analog automata''.
