On one approach to local surface smoothing
Kybernetika, 2007Summary: A bicubic model for local smoothing of surfaces is constructed on the base of pivot points. Such an approach allows reducing the dimension of matrix of normal equations more than twice. The model enables to increase essentially the speed and stability of calculations.

Experimental Approach to the Renewal of the Skin Surface
Nature, 1968THE population of epidermal cells can be regarded as a steady state system which converts various metabolites into keratin. On this basis it can be postulated that the keratin output may not exceed the metabolic input of the epidermis. In addition, if a valid comparison can be drawn between the epidermis and other steady state cellular systems1,2 ...

An Image Processing Approach to Surface Matching.
2005Establishing a correspondence between two surfaces is a basic ingredient in many geometry processing applications. Existing approaches, which attempt to match two meshes directly in 3D, can be cumbersome to implement and it is often hard to produce accurate results in a reasonable amount of time.
