Research on Surface Charge Accumulation Characteristics of DC Basin Insulator
2020 4th International Conference on HVDC (HVDC), 2020When the DC voltage applied, the electric field distribution of the DC GIL basin insulator will change from the initial capacitive distribution to the steady-state resistive distribution. This process is accompanied by the accumulation and dissipation of surface charges, which may cause a decrease in the flashover voltage along the insulator. Therefore,

Collective bulk carrier delocalization driven by electrostatic surface charge accumulation
Nature, 2012In the classic transistor, the number of electric charge carriers--and thus the electrical conductivity--is precisely controlled by external voltage, providing electrical switching capability. This simple but powerful feature is essential for information processing technology, and also provides a platform for fundamental physics research. As the number

The accumulation of surface charge due to a conducting particle on a spacer
11th International Symposium on High-Voltage Engineering (ISH 99), 1999The electrical properties of the widely used gas inslulated systems for switchgear depend strongly on the properties of the used gas. Electrical fieldstrength and the field distribution determine the behaviour. If the field gets disturbed the insulation properties decrease significantly. Conducting particles lead to local field enhancement.

Temporal behavior of surface charge accumulation in bridged vacuum gaps
IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1995Temporal change in electric field strength at the insulator-cathode-vacuum interface accompanied by charging of the insulator have been studied by using a two-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation. The study employed cylindrical and conical insulators. Each of the insulators was made of PMMA, polyimide or Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/.

Surface charge accumulation in a dielectric-covered electrode system in air
Proceedings of 2001 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2001). 2001 Asian Conference on Electrical Insulating Diagnosis (ACEID 2001). 33rd Symposium on Electrical and Electronic Insulating Materials and Applications in System, 2002This paper's focus is an experimental study of the charging process in a plane-parallel disc shaped electrode system during applications of unipolar impulse voltages. Discharge current measurements together with surface charge assessments during single impulse as well as sequence of impulses of both polarities, and at various air gap widths are ...

Surface charge accumulation on 500kV cone-type GIS spacer under residual DC voltage
IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulation, 2018In recent years, GIS compact design has gradually been recognized and adopted by the industry. In the trend of the compact design, the insulation performance of the cone-type spacer is getting more and more attention by GIS manufacturers and grid ...

The Transition of Surface Charge Accumulation Dominating Way in HVDC GIS
2018 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2018The presence of SF 6 -insulator interface in gas insulated switchgear (GIS) leads to a large number of charges accumulating on the insulator surface under high voltage direct current (HVDC) voltage, which may result in the decrease of surface insulation performance, and hence restrict the development and application of HVDC GIS.
