Initial conditions of surface charge accumulation under impulse voltage

Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2003
The surface charge distributions under impulse voltage are measured. Two types of insulators are investigated. The influence of impulse voltage magnitude on the surface charge accumulation is studied. It is shown that the pre-discharge current has a neutralization effect on charge accumulation, which makes the surface charging very weak when the ...

Gamma-ray Irradiation Inhibiting Surface Charge Accumulation on Polyethylene

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2009
Polymer insulating materials installed in electrical and electronic devices are widely used in spacecraft and nuclear power stations where the polymers are exposed to energetic radioactive rays. The chemical structure can be changed by radiation induced reactions that possibly gives rise to the alteration of characteristics of surface charge, which can

Effects of Fluorination on Surface Charge Accumulation and Decay of Polyimide Film

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2013
In this paper, we present a study aimed at clarifying the effects of fluorination time on surface charge accumulation and decay behaviors of fluorinated polyimide films. The samples were surface-fluorinated in a laboratory vessel at about 328 K using a F2/N2mixture with 20% F2by volume at 0.05 MPa for 15, 30, 45, and 60 min.

Charge accumulation on the surface of GaAs nanowires near the Schottky contact

Technical Physics Letters, 2013
The distribution of external potential along GaAs nanowires with electric contacts formed at the ends has been studied by the method of Kelvin probe force gradient microscopy (KPFGM). It is established that, in the case of Schottky contact formation, the application of external blocking voltage leads to charge accumulation in the surface layer of ...

Simulation on surface charge accumulation process of epoxy insulator in air

2018 12th International Conference on the Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (ICPADM), 2018
Most of the HV power equipment with gas-solid insulation suffers a lot from the surface charge accumulation due to corona discharge. The existence of surface charge distorts the local electric field and leads to surface flashover faults in extreme situations. As a result, it is important to Fig. out the mechanism of surface charge accumulation process.

Surface charge decay characteristics of epoxy spacer under space charge accumulation

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics
Abstract Under DC voltage, space charge inevitably accumulates within the spacer, thereby influencing the dissipation of surface charges. In this study, a charge measurement platform for epoxy resin spacers is constructed. The temporal variation of the surface charge distribution under space charges is compared. The results indicate that

Modeling of Surface Trapping Effect on Charge Accumulation Pattern at Gas–Solid Interface in DC GIL

IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulation
In this article, the impact of solid-side electron traps on surface charge accumulation behaviors at a −500-kV basin-type direct-current gas-insulated line (dc GIL) insulator is studied by numerical calculation. A 3-D simulation model in consideration of

Dynamic Redox Induced Localized Charge Accumulation Accelerating Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolysis

Advances in Materials
The sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis necessitates applied bias to facilitate electron transfer as well as bond cleavage and formation.
