Charge accumulation characteristic on polymer insulator surface under AC voltage in air and C(4)F(7)N/CO(2) mixtures

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2020
Charge accumulation has always been a problem for the safe operation of gas insulated switchgear (GIS)/gas insulated transmission line (GIL) both under AC and DC.

Improvement of partial discharge resistance of polypropylene under AC voltage by blending elastomer

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2023
This paper reports on the partial discharge (PD) erosion characteristics of polypropylene (PP)/elastomer blends where ethylene‐octene copolymer elastomer (EOC) and propylene‐based elastomer are involved.

Precise Burden Charging Operation During Iron-Making Process in Blast Furnace

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The burden charging operation in blast furnace is one of the most important operations during iron-making process. In this paper, we focus on the study of precise burden charging operation, which involves two aspects: How to obtain and form the optimal ...

Dynamics of surface charge and electric field distributions on basin-type insulator in GIS/GIL due to voltage polarity reversal

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2020
In this study, a simulation model of surface charge accumulation has been established. The model considers three accumulation ways, i.e. electrical conduction within the gas, through insulator volume and along the insulator surface.

The charge of glass and silica surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2001
We present a method of calculating the electric charge density of glass and silica surfaces in contact with aqueous electrolytes for two cases of practical relevance that are not amenable to standard techniques: surfaces of low specific area at low ionic strength and surfaces interacting strongly with a second anionic surface.

Research on the Charging Process of LEO Spacecraft Surface Materials Based on Particle Transport Equations

open access: yesIEEE Access
In order to find a simpler method to simulate the charging of spacecraft surface and further analyze the characteristics of the charging reaction of low-orbit spacecraft surface materials, this paper uses COMSOL to perform finite element analysis on the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

FEM Simulation of Charge Accumulation Behaviours on Polyimide Surface in 10 kV Negative High-Voltage Corona Polarization Process

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The study investigates behaviors of charge accumulation on an insulated surface from micro perspective via the numerical method. A coupling bridge between the micro-ion reaction system and the macroscopic multi-physical field was constructed by means of ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
