Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Surface Phases and Processes on Si Surface
The general observations concerning the commonly accepted terms related to Si surface like 'surface', 'surface phase', 'adatoms', 'in phase' and 'on phase' atoms are given. Surface phases preparation, composition and their role in surface processes is examined.

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

The key to simulating soil erosion is to calculate the vegetation cover (C) factor. Methods that apply remote sensing to calculate the C factor at a regional scale cannot directly use the C factor formula. That is because the C factor formula is obtained

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Distribution of magnetic susceptibility of surface dust in Xining City and its indicative significance to heavy metal pollution [PDF]
The establishment of heavy metal pollution grade standards based on the magnetic susceptibility of surface dust can provide a simpler magnetic method for the evaluation of heavy metal pollution of surface dust.

Exposure analysis of Chinese railways to multihazards based on datasets from 2000 to 2016
Railway structures are endangered by natural hazards. A better understanding of historical railway disaster events and the exposure of railway infrastructures to natural hazards will facilitate railway planning and disaster risk management.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Atomic and Molecular Processes at Solid Surfaces [PDF]
Abstract Development of new techniques over the past 15 years permits the investigation of the structure, the composition, and reactivity of solid surfaces on the atomic scale. Our present knowledge of the structure of clean surfaces and of adsorbed monolayers as studied by low-energy electron diffraction is reviewed. Surface crystallography provides
