A surface-immobilized model compound investigation of catalytic reactions in dispersed solids

Energy & Fuels, 1993
Reactions of the silica-immobilized model compounds, ≃Ph(CH 2 ) n Ph(n = 1, 3, 4) and ≃PhCH 2 CH 2 OPh, with dispersed acid catalysts have been studied at 310-375 °C in the solid state. Reactions of these model compounds in the presence of a small particle size (15 nm) silica-1% alumina catalyst yield products typically expected for acid-catalyzed ...

Dependence of the dispersion interaction between the nanoparticle and a surface of a solid on the plasmon-polariton

2014 IEEE 34th International Scientific Conference on Electronics and Nanotechnology (ELNANO), 2014
We study the interaction between a nanoparticle and a surface of a solid in the framework of the local field method. As the nanopoarticles we consider solidstate and biological nanoparticles (bio-molecules and viruses). Our numerical analysis shows that this potential strongly depends on the shape and size of the particle.

Application of Shereshefsky's equation for the determination of solid surface dispersion energy

Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1971
A simple method for obtaining solid surface dispersion energies by measuring adsorption from solution and applying Shereshefsky's equation has been tested with experimental data from the literature on the adsorption of stearic acid from C6H6 solution on to mercury, iron, copper, and nickel giving results that compare favourably with those obtained by ...
