Angled crested like water waves with surface tension II: Zero surface tension limit [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This is the second paper in a series of papers analyzing angled crested type water waves with surface tension. We consider the 2D capillary gravity water wave equation and assume that the fluid is inviscid, incompressible, irrotational and the air density is zero.

On the Surface Tensions of Binary Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
For binary mixtures with fixed concentrations of the species, various relationships between the surface tensions and the concentrations are briefly reviewed.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

A method for using surface tension to determine the size of holes in hardware [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
To check the size of small holes in injectors, flow control orifices, filters, and similar hardware, a surface tension technique is used. The liquid surface tension causes it to act as a membrane when pressure is applied.

Indentation load-depth relation for an elastic layer with surface tension

open access: yes, 2018
Load-depth relation is the fundamental requisite in nanoindentation tests for thin layers, however, the effects of surface tension are seldom included. This paper concerns micro-/nano-sized indentation of a bonded elastic layer by a rigid sphere.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Wetting and interfacial tension of molten CaO–Al2O3–MgO–FeO slag and BN substrate

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The interface characterization is one of the important properties of molten slag, which has a significant influence on the interface phenomenon of molten slag and the reaction between slag and metal. The wettability of molten CaO–Al2O3–MgO–FeO slag on BN

Direct numerical simulation of variable surface tension flows using a Volume-of-Fluid method

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a general methodology for the inclusion of variable surface tension into a Volume-of-Fluid based Navier-Stokes solver. This new numerical model provides a robust and accurate method for computing the surface gradients directly by finding the ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Dependence of the surface tension on the shape of surface boundary [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Lett. A Vol.380, pp.878-881 (2016), 2016
We numerically check that the surface tension of membranes is independent of the shape of surface boundary. The surface tension is calculated by means of the Monte Carlo simulation technique on two types of cylinders made of rubans of size $L_1$ and $L_2$, where the rubans are the same for the projected area and different in the ratio $L_1/L_2$.
