REPAIRtoire--a database of DNA repair pathways. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
REPAIRtoire is the first comprehensive database resource for systems biology of DNA damage and repair. The database collects and organizes the following types of information: (i) DNA damage linked to environmental mutagenic and cytotoxic agents, (ii ...

Defeito completo do septo atrioventricular com cianose Complete repair in total atrioventricular canal defect with cyanosis

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

An Uncommon Cause of Dyspnea: Right‐Sided Morgagni Hernia in a 70‐Year‐Old Female

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports
We report a case of right‐sided Morgagni hernia in an elderly female. Morgagni hernia is a rare congenital defect. In elderly patients, symptoms like recurrent infections, dyspnea, or abdominal pain necessitate urgent evaluation.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Comparative effectiveness of endovascular and surgical repair of ruptured abdominal aneurysm

open access: yesConsilium Medicum
Background. Abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture is a life threating condition, that requires emergent intervention. At the present stage endovascular aortic repair should be performed, when possible, as a first line strategy, but stent-grafts have some ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Complementing surgical with biomedical and engineering methods to evolve lip and nose reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Facial integrity and self-perception are intimately related to each other. A facial defect therefore affects a patient in his physical and psychosocial health as well.

Thoracoscopic Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia repair in neonate: The First Experience of Iranian Group

open access: yesIranian Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2016
Background: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) occurs due to a failure in closing pleuroperitoneal membrane thus resulting in an incomplete diaphragm formation1, which allows passage of the abdominal viscera into the thorax.1,3 Until 1995, the ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
