Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Assessment of Surgical Techniques in Periodontal Regeneration and Bone Grafting

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: Periodontal regeneration and bone grafting are essential components of periodontal therapy aimed at restoring lost periodontal tissues and supporting structures. Various surgical techniques have been developed to achieve these objectives, but

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Laparoscopic Duodenal-Jejunal Bypass for the Treatment of Duodenal Obstruction Caused by Annular Pancreas: Description of a Surgical Technique

open access: yes, 2011
Annular pancreas is a rare congenital anomaly, which is only surgically treated in symptomatic cases. Surgical treatment consists of bypassing the duodenal transit by gastrojejunal or duodenal-jejunal anastomosis.

Corneal Endothelial Cell Loss Following Cataract Surgery in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesBiomedicines
Cataract surgery, while commonly considered a routine, highly effective, and generally low-risk ophthalmic procedure, has been associated with corneal endothelial cell loss (ECL), a phenomenon particularly pronounced in patients with type 2 diabetes ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Simplified technique of patient positioning and renal access in true supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy

open access: yesUrology Annals
Objectives: To evaluate a novel, simplified technique for TRUE supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) that omits the use of bolsters or stirrups, utilizing a novel anatomical landmark (“Dixit line”) for initial puncture.
