Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

A Self-Adaptive IoT-based Approach for Improving the Decision Making of Active Surgical Robots in Hospitals [PDF]
In recent years, surgical robots have become instrumental tools for assisting surgeons in performing complex surgical procedures in hospitals. Unlike conventional surgical methods, robotic systems help surgeons, for example, to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures while enhancing the precision and control of operations (e.g.

Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Nonpharmacological Prevention of Surgical Wound Infections [PDF]
Postoperative wound infection is a common and serious complication of surgery. This review will focus on 2 factors known to modulate perioperative immunity: maintenance of perioperative normothermia and provision of supplemental perioperative oxygen. Hypothermia causes numerous adverse outcomes, including morbid myocardial events, increased blood loss ...

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

NEGATIVE-PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF COMPLEX INJURIES AFTER TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY [PDF]
Objective: To present an experience with negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in the treatment of surgical wounds in patients treated for infections after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with or without dehiscence and prophylaxis in wounds considered at

Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.
