This study focuses on how rocks respond mechanically and how to keep them stable when soft rock roadways are under deep tectonic stress. It does this through a combination of theoretical analysis, numerical simulations, and field applications. We created

Field investigations of high stress soft surrounding rocks and deformation control
AbstractField investigations of high stress soft rock deformations show that the high stress soft rock roadway can slide with large deformation. Severe extrusion and floor heave can also be subsequently observed. The supported roadway can be locally damaged or completely fail, where the floor has a large deformation and/or is seriously damaged.

Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Compliant Pneumatic Feet with Real‐Time Stiffness Adaptation for Humanoid Locomotion
A compliant pneumatic foot with real‐time variable stiffness enables humanoid robots to adapt to changing terrains. Using onboard vision and pressure control, the foot modulates stiffness within each gait cycle, reducing impact forces and improving balance. The design, cast in soft silicone with embedded air chambers and Kevlar wrapping, offers durable,

Stability control of roadway surrounding rocks under repeated mining: a case study
Repeated mining makes the deformation and failure of roadway surrounding rocks more complex than those under single-seam conditions. To address the large deformation and support failure in the 40,111 roadway of the Dafosi Coal Mine, this study combined theoretical calculations and numerical simulations to analyze the evolution of stress, displacement ...

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Perivascular matrix densification promotes the emergence of aberrant endothelial tip cells (ATECs) that invade and persist within fibrotic microenvironments. Using in vivo lineage tracing and a human microvessel model, this study shows that fibrous matrix cues destabilize VE‐cadherin–mediated junctions to gate TGF‐β signaling, inducing a pro ...

Deep soft rock roadways at about 1 km depth experience significant deformation due to concentrated stress ahead of the working face and dynamic loads from the hard roof layer. We propose an integrated control method that couples directional roof cutting, which interrupts stress transfer with constant resistance, and large deformation cable ...
